Built in 1946 as one of only 183 TID-class tugs, TID172 was part of a series constructed to replace vessels lost during World War II and to assist in preparations for the D-Day invasion of France. Today, she offers an extraordinary opportunity to own and restore a genuine wartime vessel while creating a distinctive and characterful home on the water.

Now moored on a secure residential berth within a small working boatyard on the River Medway, TID172 offers ample interior space to reimagine into a comfortable and character-filled residence.

Currently, she includes:

A good-sized forward cabin

A small deck-level galley

A compact shower room and toilet

A traditional wheelhouse, which could be extended to form an additional living area

There’s also further space adjacent to the engine room, ideal for creating a large saloon or additional cabin. The original engines remain in place but are currently non-operational due to boiler issues — these could be restored for authenticity or removed to open up even more interior space.
